Pathway Wrestling Club Achievements

6x City Champion

Paul holds the record for most Ottawa City Championships. He went undefeated at the West Ottawa Final and the City Championships for six consecutive years. He held the title of city champion in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Check out how he evolved from a kid just learning how to wrestle into a multiple-time champion dominating university wrestlers.

Team Canada

In 2018, Jenny made Pathway history by becoming our first wrestler to make Team Canada. She earned her spot by pinning multiple national champions at Nationals and the Cadet Team Trials. Check out her videos to see her not only pin two national champs, but pin them with a technique called the “spladle.”

Ontario Winter Games Champions

Pathway Wrestling Club is the only team from Eastern Ontario to crown Ontario Winter Games champions for the past 2 Games. In 2018, Max and Sam both earned gold medals. In 2020, Gaby avenged a loss from earlier in the season to top the podium. Also in 2020, Liam battled his way to a bronze medal finish in a tough division. The Eastern Ontario region includes areas like Ottawa, Kingston, and Renfrew.

National Silver Medalist

Erin earned a silver medal at the 2019 National Championships. Her podium finish qualified her to compete in the Cadet Team Trials the following day. This national medal is one of many Erin has won, including multiple City Championships, an Ontario Cup gold, and Matmen Classic gold.

Provincial Champions

Sam won a gold medal at the 2020 Provincial Championships. He dominated the competition, finishing every match via pin or tech fall. This medal adds to his 2 other provincial titles. Sam and Max had a banner year in 2018, winning gold medals at both Provincials and the Ontario Winter Games.

OFSAA Placers

Pathway has been well represented on the OFSAA podium. Our first wrestler to place at the biggest tournament of the season was Dave Stoltz. Since then, we’ve seen Paul, Jenny, Max, Sam, Yallini, and Anthony qualify as “Elite 6.” Medalists include Max (2019 Silver, 2020 Bronze), Sam (2020 Bronze), and Yallini (2019 Silver).

SHHS Wrestling

Pathway has a close partnership with Sacred Heart High School in Stittsville. Being right around the corner allows Tim to volunteer as the coach of both the 7/8 and high school teams at Sacred. Tim has had the privilege of working with many skilled and passionate teacher-coaches, including Sil Sanna, Roland Cardinal, Richard Walker, Steve Truchon, Alain Gareau, and Wanda Malone.

We’ve also had the opportunity to work with coaches from other local high schools. We’ve been lucky enough to partner with coaches like Dave Barbier (SRB), Rachel Abraham (Holy Trinity), and Carrie Clancy (All Saints).
